Any successful event organiser knows that learning your target market is crucial to running the best possible event experience - not only do you need to make sure you price your ticket right while providing a relevant and engaging experience, but you also need to make sure that the services you use for your event are appropriate for attendees.
This applies to so many aspects of the event, for example, if you know your target audience is made up of frequent SnapScan users and you’re going to have a bar or have items for sale at the event, you wouldn’t want a literal “cash bar” with no other payment methods other than physical cash. Today’s event-goers are going to expect you’ve got numerous modes of payment ready for them to use.
The same logic applies to your ticketer - you need to make sure that the payment options that your ticketer provides are sufficient and, most importantly, relevant.
At Quicket, we recognise the need for organisers to offer a variety of payment options, including ones that offer more flexibility for their ticket buyers. Over time, we’ve added a wide variety of payment options, and in addition to credit cards and EFTs, we also offer Instant EFT, and yes, even SnapScan. The most recent of these additions is mobicred.
mobicred is a simple & convenient credit facility that allows a person to safely shop online with a number of retailers, including Quicket. It’s essentially an easy online credit application with an as-close-to-instant-as-you-can-get-when-you-need-to-do-a-credit-check response.
Ticket buyers who want to attend an event but don’t have current or immediate access to the funds to do so can still secure their ticket, and pay it off in their own time. In other words, you can buy tickets now, but pay for them later. No cheddar? No problem.
In thinking about a target market for an event, we know that many organisers have wanted to break into a slightly different market, but may have found it challenging to do so due to limitations such as income brackets or access to funds. A younger market or one with a lower LSM for example might not have access to the funds needed upfront to buy tickets to the events they would most like to attend. mobicred is the perfect way to help bridge this gap.
How does someone buy a ticket with mobicred?
The application process happens in 4 easy steps:
- The customer applies once-off online at www.mobicred.co.za
- If approved, they are granted a credit limit, much like a credit card. They accept the T&C’s and get access to their credit limit.
- They can now shop online. When they want to spend, they simply select mobicred from the payment options in the checkout, such as when buying a ticket on Quicket, and type in their username and password.
- Once the purchase is approved, they are sent a One Time PIN on their mobile, which they type in to finalise the transaction.
- They pay off their mobicred credit in one single monthly instalment via debit order.
For those of you who may not believe it, this video gives a great overview of how it all works.
What’s needed for an application?
Mobicred makes it pretty easy for anyone to get a credit limit to use for online purchases. All someone needs to apply is this:
- A valid South African ID
- Being 18 years or older
- Earning a minimum monthly salary of R5500
- Having an existing & valid bank account in your name
- Having a current & valid email address and mobile number
…aaaaaaand that’s it!
We find it best to experience the user journey just as your ticket buyers would by opening your own account, or at least going through the steps and bailing last minute like this flaky friend of mine. Yes, I’m talking about you Alex!
Sorry, got a bit carried away there. Here’s the link to open your mobicred account now and we’ve even outlined the process below in pictures for you.
This all sounds great but how can you enable mobicred for your event on Quicket?
It couldn’t be simpler. When logged into your Quicket account, click on “My Events” under your email address in the top right corner.
From there, find the event for which you’d want to turn on mobicred and click “Manage Event”. This will take you to your event’s dashboard.
From the left menu, select “Checkout” then “Payment options”. Here you’ll find simple toggle buttons to turn various payment methods, including mobicred, on or off. Toggle the buttons you need and Bob’s your uncle and mobicred is your newest added payment method.
Here’s a more detailed how-to.
Got any questions? Contact us and we’ll gladly walk you through the process. For now, we'll leave you with those screenshots we promised.
